Silex Joins the Puter Internet OS
Silex is now the default website builder on Puter, an open-source internet OS. Explore how Silex fits into Puter’s vision of privacy-first, user-centered web tools on Puter’s GitHub.
The 1-click deploy feature request aims to simplify publishing with platforms like CapRover and YunoHost. This feature would enable fast, flexible deployment options, especially valuable for web designers and agencies looking to streamline their workflows.
Here’s a look at the platforms we’re considering for this feature:
CapRover: An open-source PaaS (Platform as a Service) that turns any server into a deployable environment. CapRover offers a no-code, user-friendly approach to managing applications, aligning with Silex’s values of accessibility and open-source technology.
Elestio: A managed service platform supporting various open-source projects. Elestio offers easy deployment with robust, managed services, making it accessible for users at all levels.
YunoHost: A self-hosted platform focused on simplicity. It enables users to manage their own servers and deploy applications easily, emphasizing privacy and open-source values, just like Silex.
Sandstorm: Known for its strong security and app isolation, Sandstorm allows users to host and manage web applications with a focus on secure, user-controlled environments.
Dokku: A flexible, Docker-based platform that makes it easy to deploy web applications. With Git-based deployment, Dokku supports designers and developers who value flexible, open-source solutions.
Please vote for this feature on our roadmap and share your thoughts on which platforms should be prioritized. Your input and discussions on the feature page are essential to shaping the future of Silex’s deployment options!
When connecting via GitLab or FTP, Silex uses secure protocols: OAuth for GitLab (keeping passwords private) and a one-week session cookie for FTP. For those who prefer complete control, host Silex yourself and manage your data directly. Explore more Silex FAQs and consider contributing to the docs—every addition strengthens our shared knowledge base.
'till next time! And remember, if you have 5 minutes to spare each month, come talk to us on the chat or forums. Together, we can make the best use of your time and contributions to improve Silex.
Feel free to reply to this email if you have any questions or suggestions. We’re here to help!
