šŸŒŸ Website of the Month: AFEF Congress

This month, we highlight the website of the AFEF Congress, created for the 95th Scientific Days of the French Association for the Study of the Liver (AFEF). Optimized for performance and eco-design, it achieves impressive scores: 96 Performance, 95 Accessibility, 96 Best Practices, 92 SEO.

šŸš€ Updates: CapRover Integration

Silex is now integrated with CapRover, thanks to Olivier's work. This makes it easy for web designers and agencies to self-host Silex with custom configurations or connected CMS solutions like WordPress, Squidex, or Strapi.

At Internet 2000, we use this approach to host Silex, our CMS, and GitLab on carbon-neutral or negative-impact servers. Olivier is also working on integrating Silex with YunoHost (yunohost.org), making self-hosting even simpler.

To use this integration, access your CapRover instance and look for Silex in the available applications.

šŸ”§ Feature Request of the Month: Forkable Websites and Templates

The Web was originally designed as a space for collaboration, not just a platform for publishing finished work. This feature aims to bring that vision to Silex by making it easy to share websites as starting points for new projects.

When publishing a site in Silex, you could check an option to make it "forkable." This would add the siteā€™s source file (website.json) to the root of the published site, containing everything needed for Silex to open and edit it: layout, styles, assets, and more. Additional features could include:

  • A license, such as Creative Commons.

  • A list of authors, updated as others fork the site.

  • Proper credit to the original source.

You could also tag your GitLab repository to make it appear in a "Templates" section in the Silex dashboard, allowing others to easily find and build upon your work.

This feature wouldnā€™t fork the CMS part of a website (e.g., WordPress or Strapi)ā€”it would focus only on the Silex-generated content.
